Tillie Borchers
Director of Asset Management, Civitas Capital GroupMatilde (“Tillie”) Galan Borchers is Director of Asset Management at Civitas Capital Group (“Civitas”) and is responsible for originating and underwriting investments for the Grow South Fund and the portfolio oversight of other Civitas managed funds. Ms. Borchers brings over 17 years of experience in underwriting and asset management of commercial real estate loans secured by projects throughout the U.S. The GrowSouth Fund is a double bottom-line investment fund focused on catalytic investment in southern Dallas. Ms. Borchers has underwritten investments in multifamily properties, for-sale residential properties, retail redevelopment, adaptive reuse of industrial buildings, and healthcare properties on behalf of the GrowSouth Fund and other Civitas funds.
Prior to joining Civitas, Ms. Borchers was a Senior Vice President at Bank of the Ozarks (now Bank OZK) managing a portfolio of construction and land development loans secured by over $2 billion in commercial real estate. Prior to Bank of the Ozarks, she worked for a Dallas-based real estate private equity firm and Miami-based LNR Partners, an investor in commercial mortgage backed securities (“CMBS”). During her tenure at LNR, she managed CMBS acquisition underwriting, distressed loans, loan workouts, and performing loan modifications for all asset classes.
Ms. Borchers received her undergraduate degree in Finance with High Honors from University of Florida with a Certificate in Latin American Studies, where she was a National Hispanic Scholar. She earned a Master of Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Real Estate from Columbia Business School in New York, NY. Ms. Borchers serves as the Vice Chairman of the North Texas Advisory Board for Trust for Public Land, the Community Advisory Board for The Real Estate Council’s Community Fund, and the Investment Advisory Committee for Texas Women’s Foundation. In 2019, she was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Parkland Foundation and currently chairs the Finance Committee and serves on the Executive Committee.
